More about me, Ali Leader

I am Ali and I love to talk about what Jesus has done in my life.

I started believing in God as a little girl who’d lost her doll.

In frustration, I cried out to God.

When I found the doll, I never questioned his existence again.

This childlike faith has grown through the storms and trials of my life.

I’ve come to realise Christianity is not about what I need to do for God.

Instead, it’s about what God’s already done for me through the sacrificial death and incredible resurrection of his son, Jesus Christ.

I put my faith in my Father God and his grace – not my ability to “do good things”.

Writing for It’s a God thing helps me reflect on the love and mercy of God in my very imperfect life.

I’m encouraged by the way it links me with inspiring bloggers from around the world.

Thanks for taking the journey with me,

Ali

  1. Hi! I love your blog and the fact that you’re showcasing your love for the LORD 😀
Also, thank you for the follow; the reason we do what we do is for JESUS and reaching as many as possible, isn’t? I’m truly blessed with your writing and may GOD continue using you to touch others.

    Blessings,
    Dulcinea 🙂

    1. Thanks heaps Dulcinea! That’s the reason, 100% – I just want to write because I love him and want others to know about him 🙂 May God bless your work, and I look forward to reading more of it.

  2. Hello–I’m so glad for your recent visit to my blog! I had seen your picture somewhere–Deb’s Blog?? Anyway, good to meet another sister! Will catch you later–I’m off to living room church!! God bless you abundantly.

  3. Thanks for the recent follow on my blog. I have very much enjoyed reading some of your posts and look forward to sharing the journey of following after Jesus! God bless!

  4. I was lead to your blog through the “Life, Leadership & Faith” blog. I really like it. I have kind of a similar blog at thethirdthoughts.com. Check it out if you have the time. If not, no worries. Just keep yours going though. I enjoy it. I’ll probably write a post recommending yours if you don’t mind.

    1. I don’t appear to have replied to your comment from so long ago Trey – thanks so much, and any recommendations would be great! Again, my apologies for not replying earlier.

  5. I love your ‘about’ and the example of child-like faith that we should have. I recently listened to a recording of the Testimony of Jennifer Miller (highly recommend!) and one thing she said really struck me, and your ‘about’ reminded me of it: If you can’t explain your faith and relationship with Jesus Christ with a seven-year-old, something needs to change! So often we over complicate things.. it’s refreshing to read this simply statement of faith and trust. Thank you!

    1. Thanks for this – yes, I think childlike faith is important. We can certainly make it very ‘adult’ and complicated – I agree!

  6. “…I started believing in God as a little girl who’d lost her doll and in frustration, cried out to God. When I found the doll, I somehow never questioned his existence again…”

That is one of the best testimonies I have ever read.

  7. I had to smile at the memory I got from reading this, I have no idea how young I was when I couldn’t find the left half of my favorite pair of shoes, I was being called to hurry up and get in the car, but I couldn’t go with only one shoe. I asked, he answered, and I never doubted Him since. 🙂 My story is similar to yours, in fact I can relate and concur with every word. Nice to meet you I am looking forward to reading more.

    1. How wonderful! Such a simple act of faith in an unseen God – with eternal consequences. It’s heartwarming that you share this experience of God with me. He’s amazing how he speaks to us in ways we understand, isn’t he. Thanks for dropping by and sharing, and I look forward to getting to know you in blog land 🙂

      1. I am loving the connections he is bringing me through the blogosphere, joining us across the country and across the world. I never felt so close to the “Body of Christ” as I do these days, seeing the heartfelt words of all of the people like you. It warms my heart and comforts my mind more than I can say. Blessings to you.

  8. Hi there, this is Melissa from the blog “Put it in Writing” (of which you are a follower!). I know it’s kind of out of the blue to get an email from me, but I am curious. While I know that some of my friends and family do read my blog, the majority of my followers are people I have never met. It would be really helpful for me if you could tell me how you found my blog. And to ask an even bigger favor, tell me what you like most about it. I would love to expand my list of followers, but first I need to know the audience I am writing for. Thanks for your time, and I’ll be checking out a lot of your blogs today too!

PS. Ali, thanks for following me, and I’ve really enjoyed reading your blog!

    1. Hi Melissa
Yes I love your blog. Awesome design and layout!
While I can’t remember how I came across your blog, most of the ones I follow are due to the results of a search for topics I’m interested in, like faith, or writing. I also usually follow people based on their comments within other blogs I like. I think the more interactive you are with other blogs, the more likely you are to be noticed. And I find connecting with Facebook and Twitter helpful too. There’s always more we can do to get noticed, but the biggest following seems to come to those who are continually interacting with other blogs to give encouragement and feedback, and who are regularly posting. Hope this helps – sorry I couldn’t be more specific!

      1. Thanks for reponding! Glad I found your blog through you finding mine! Have a great weekend.

  9. Thanks for stopping by – I look forward to reading more of your articles. I love your “name” – God Girl – that says a lot about you! 😉 Blessings to you and your family and good luck with your move.

  10. Thank you for stopping by.
You look a lot like someone who I think used to go to our church in Melbourne … have you always been a Sydney girl?
Love your testimony …the number of times my daughter prayed for her teddies to be found and they were is remarkable … God is Good for kids too! LOL!
    Blessings
    God is Good!

    1. Hi there!
No, not me – I’ve only lived in Brisbane and Sydney. Some say I have a familiar face!
It’s a wonderful way for God to communicate to little children isn’t it! He knows what we value 🙂
He sure is! Blessings, and thanks for dropping by.
      Ali

      1. You’re welcome! And I am honored to have you on my list. 🙂 Your blog was one of the first I ever followed, and it has been so inspiring and encouraging. So thank you!

  11. Hi, I just wanted to say thanks for the follow and sorry I took so long to thank you.
I enjoy your blog. I also hope, one day, to visit Australia.
    Blessings.

  12. Thank you for sharing your simple story and purpose! What a beautiful experience of God answering your prayer to find your doll 🙂 It has been small and simple moments like that throughout my life that have led me to have such a testimony in my Savior Jesus Christ. You write beautifully! Thanks for sharing your gift!

    1. Thank you Lauren! It’s so true. Sometimes the most powerful moments are the simplest. I appreciate you dropping in, and your kind words. God bless 🙂

  13. Thank you for following me https://sailordale.wordpress.com/ It is always a pleasure to find a sister or brother in the Lord! It is not about us! I love the verse that says “I must decrease, He (God) must Increase! We serve an awesome God! Have a great life “down under” I have been there, for a couple days. In Port Kembla, Sydney, Perth, & Melbourne. In the picture on my blog, the ship I am on was headed for Perth! (Fremantle) Joshua 1:9……

  14. Your love for our Risen Savior comes through in your posts. (I don’t have to read too far before I start sensing it.) I’m glad you’re here. Not until we get to heaven, will you be able to fully grasp how much of an encouragement you are…

  15. Great site! Some of us best express ourselves through writing, and what better way to use those talents than to bless others and glorify our Savior! Thank you for following Perspective. I have a few sites. I dig much more deeply into faith in http://navigatingbyfaith.com/ and have lately begun promoting an incredible Bible packed full of scholarly tools at http://thedailydiscoveryblog.com/. If you are like me, it is hard to read all there is to read so don’t feel obligated. God bless you!

  16. Thanks for the follow, Ali 🙂 I like all those little pictures with biblical captions. I haven’t had a chance to see your archives, have you written any reflections? Tony.

    1. Hi Tony, thank you! The bible captions are a recent thing. Plenty of reflections and ponderings in my blog – have a look if you have time 🙂 Looking forward to reading yours too.

  17. What an awesome testimony of finding God’s love and grace! Having child-like faith makes it all so easy. So often people complicate the whole faith thing with rules, regulations, and believing they need to do this or that to earn the love of our Lord. It’s all so simple and so pretty when you stop to think about it.

      1. Me too, glad to see a fellow sydneysider 🙂 was searching for some more blogs through WordPress’ Discover link and found yours! Love how you write truths succinctly, they are pearls of wisdom! Looking forward to reading more from you, have a God day! 😊

  18. Good Morning Ali. Thank you for the follow. Love the purpose of your blog, telling others others of Jesus. Looking forward to more, as I am following you now. God’s Abundant Blessings. George.

  19. Asalamualikum (May peace be on you), 💖 greetings from you brother Furquan .. It was nice to learn about you and it was very nice to see you to be a God conscious person.. I love those who seek the purpose of being here in this world and do not spend their life not even knowing the basic purpose of their life.. I am a Muslim, a struggling one in fact..😊 and I love Jesus peace be upon Him, cause according to our Holy Book Quran he was one of the mightiest prophets of all times.. I request you to read something about Islam also and know what our book say about Prophet Jesus Peace be upon Him.. Request from your brother, no compulsion.. Please! 😊 Thank you..

    1. Hi Furquan, nice to meet you. Thanks for reading my post 🙂
Good to hear you’re seeking greater meaning in life too.
      Thanks for the thoughts.
While I appreciate that the Quran acknowledges Jesus as a great prophet, for me if Jesus was not also God, then his life, death and resurrection makes no sense. He also made many claims to be God and to be equal with God, which would make him a deluded prophet if indeed he was merely a prophet. Therefore, only one holy book contains the full truth. For me, the Bible makes better sense of this world and my place in the world to come. But I’ve been meaning to read the Quran to understand Muslims better. It is hard that I need to learn Arabic in order to understand the Quran but I’m definitely interested to know more about your faith and beliefs.
God bless you on your journey.

      1. Aameen.. I want to inform you about a Muslim scholar namely Dr. Zakir Naik who challenged the who Christian community as a whole to prove a single verse from Bible where Jesus Christ (May peace be upon Him) claims divinity he is ready to accept Christianity.. He reverted more than 50,000 non Muslims to Islam.. Visit him at http://www.irf.net
You watch his videos on YouTube also, he had a conversation with one of the learned Christian scholar from America namely Dr William Cambel… https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=XOD2KXXzsjM

  20. As your niece, I can absolutely say that what you write is what you live and I’m so glad to have an aunty like you!! Thank you for devoting your time, thoughts and energy towards us. ❤

    1. Your words are beautiful and humbling, Missy – thank you so much. I’m so blessed to have you in my life and so grateful for the time we can have together. You are just as much a gift to me 🙂 x x
