“15Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.16For everything in the world—the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he has and does—comes not from the Father but from the world.17The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever.” (I John 2:15-17)
Oh Lord, don’t we learn this the hard way? We go around the world and back, falling in love with all the unhealthiest things – only to remember that true satisfaction comes from our relationship with you. Yes, there are many beautiful things in this world to enjoy – but they are just trimmings on a cake.
You, God, are the beginning and the end, the author and perfecter of my faith. In you there is true, lasting, deep satisfaction – and when this joy is truly discovered, nothing on earth comes close. Intimacy with you is what I crave – walking in your will is where I want to be – and nothing will take me from your arms… I choose you. Again.
