Simply remain

“Remain in me, and I will remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.” (John 15:4)

Lord, we cannot remain in you unless your Holy Spirit is in us. Thank you for making us yours in the first place.
God, we bring you glory when fruit is produced in our lives. Help us to flower and flourish – not wither and weaken in our faith.
Help us to rest… to abide… to dwell in Christ… having union with him by faith.
Give us a child-like dependence on you.
We’re so easily distracted. May we be fruitful – not for the sake of ‘doing good’ but building our joy in you and magnifying your name.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen

  1. Do you remember the cartoon of the large dog with his paws upon his master’s shoulders slobbering, “I love you, I love you, I’ll always be there for you, there’s no one else I love more . . . squirrel!” How easy it is for us to get distracted from Godly prayer as well. 🙂 As much as I love the Lord, sadly I’m sometimes like that too. Sigh.

    1. Haha. That is so true Ellie… We need continual reminders of God’s goodness, faithfulness and love because our tendency is to wander. God bless!
