Sometimes we’re clueless when it comes to our hearts.
And by that I mean our motives. The things that drive our action or inaction.
We might take stabs at the truth.
We guess at why we did what we did; why we might’ve reacted so strongly… but sometimes it’s like we’re feeling our way through the dark.
Why do I keep doing that?
What’s driving me, really?
These are the questions we might ask ourselves.
But if I’m honest, my biggest revelations have come from those times I’ve allowed God to reveal my heart to my mind.
Those nights of honest, weeping prayer.
Those days of tearful, angry scrambling for the truth.
In these holy moments, God steps in and shows how well he actually knows me.
Better than my best of friends.
And God, in his grace, as the very best Father there is, invites me to stop, reflect, and begin the journey of knowing myself better, and growing in him.
Will you take his hand on the journey he’s inviting you on?
“Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” – Psalm 139:23-24 NIV

So true…
Thanks Liz, we all need a little help sometimes…! Hope you are well x
Doing well here in the big “C”, thank you!
Wow I love this!
“and God, in his grace, as the very best Father there is, invites me to stop, reflect, and begin the journey of knowing myself better, and growing in him.”
This resonated so deeply for me because this is EXACTLY the season I find myself currently in.
Keep writing! You’re amazing.
Aww, thanks Neli.
I’m so glad it resonated.
Praying that you’d continue to see God’s leading as you reflect on your life direction and continue to grow in him x x
He truly knows us better than we know ourselves.
Amen, Mary! What an amazing thing to know how well we knows us.
Truly a humbling place. Reminds me what Pascal said, “The heart longs for things of which the mind knows nothing”.
Mmm, I love that quote. So true. May all our longings find their end in Christ, now and into eternity. He’s the true source of meaning and the answer to our heart’s desire.
