What does comfort mean to you?

I remember when my son Tom was little.

He’d wander into our bedroom early in the morning and snuggle up.

He’d edge into my side, often almost falling off the bed because there was barely room for two people let alone three.

He’d press in tight, and before I knew it, he was fast asleep again.

Maybe you have memories of cuddling your mum or dad in the morning.

You knew you could always find comfort with that person, so you’d reach out for a hug when you needed it.

Or maybe you had the opposite experience, and never reached out for support from your parents.

But regardless of what kind of parents you had, I can assure you that our Heavenly Father is the best source of comfort.

God is a loving parent who’ll never turn us away.

May you truly lean into Jesus too.

He’s waiting, ready to offer comfort and strength.

Today’s reading: 2 Corinthians 1:3-7

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ
the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.
For just as we share abundantly in the sufferings of Christ, so also our comfort abounds through Christ.
If we are distressed, it is for your comfort and salvation; if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which produces in you patient endurance of the same sufferings we suffer.
And our hope for you is firm, because we know that just as you share in our sufferings, so also you share in our comfort.
