“In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety.” (Psalm 4:8)
Here in Australia it’s bedtime. These words sit in the middle of a frame above my bed, reminding me of the rest my God can give…
Some things cause us to lose sleep, and others send us into a blissful slumber. Here’s my prayer for tonight…
Lord,
Sleep doesn’t come easy to me. It’s the treasure I don’t always find. But I thank you, that, whatever my night is like, you are always with me, giving me what I need. You are the source of peace, and spiritual safety. I am forever hidden in you.
You are ever-present. You know what keeps me up at night and you know what causes me to rest well. I ask for the blessing of sleep… or simply the ability to endure well through a season of tiredness.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen
I love that in all things you are finding ways to honor and commit to the Lord!!! Honestly it is a beautiful thing to see and I am thankful to find such great encouragement in your words!! I pray that you find rest in Him!
Wow, thank you! I really appreciate your encouraging words. May we continue to rest in Him and enjoy His ultimate peace 🙂
Dear Ali, this is the verse I pray for us each night when we go to sleep! Thank you for encouraging us that He has us covered even during times of tiredness when sleep won’t com. God bless you!
Oh how wonderful Debbie! Thanks for dropping by, and may you be blessed with His presence each night, as you rest in Him…
This reminds me of a prayer I pray often over my family. It is from Proverbs 3:24- ‘When you lie down, you will not be afraid. When you lie down, your sleep will be sweet.’ My prayer is for God to lay His hand of peace over each one and bless them with His sweet sleep. God bless for this beautiful post!
Thank you for sharing those verses – and what a wonderful prayer to speak over our families each night 🙂 Thanks for dropping by with your blessings and encouragement…
That’s a great verse to see when you go to bed each night. I like how you pray for sleep, or the ability to endure (should He decide that sleep is not what we need that night.)
Yes, I like it 🙂 Indeed there are no guarantees when it comes to sleep, but we can know His presence is guaranteed. Thanks for reading Janna 🙂
