“I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come. And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way.” (Ephesians 1:18-23)
This is one of Paul’s heartfelt prayers for the Ephesian church. I pray it for you, and for me, tonight.
Yes Lord Jesus – fill my ‘heart eyes’ with your light. Light to see that this earth is temporary, and heaven is my ultimate hope and home. Light to understand what you’ve equipped me for while I’m still here, breathing the earth-air…
May I understand that you offer me the same God-power that brought you back to life. I need not fear the people who seek the status and praise of this world. I am safe in your arms, and empowered to conquer the darkness and at times, the disdain. In Your name.
Thank you that you are far above the world leaders and celebrities and bosses who hold power of an earthly kind. All will bow to you one day.
Thank you for the church, in all its brokenness and beauty. Speak through it, Lord Jesus. Use us to draw others to you – to your heart. Fill us with your presence. Cleanse us. Unify us. Lead us. May we overcome all that seeks to destroy us, with you as our head and ultimate authority.
Thanks, Ali. That’s a good word.
Thank you – I appreciate you dropping by!
What a beautiful, beautiful prayer, Ali! Thank you for helping us to pray today, from our hearts. God bless you and yours!
Hello Debbie! Thank you for praying with me today π
Another encouraging and uplifting prayer. It’s so easy to get wrapped up in all that is wrong and broken in the world, and to despair over the pain that humans inflict on one another. It all seems a little less distressing when put in the perspective that this is a temporary home, only until God leads us to His kingdom.
Absolutely. We are just passing through, and all will be resolved one day. Thanks so much for dropping by Janna π
Thank you for this wonderful prayer … I needed to read it and pray it π Blessings to you!
I’m glad it was encouraging Heidi! Thanks for stopping by. Blessings right back π
