My life as a palace

Ever wondered what on earth God is up to in your life? I certainly have.

Well, C.S. Lewis says, why not try picturing yourself as a house?…

“Imagine yourself as a living house. God comes in to rebuild that house. At first, perhaps, you can understand what He is doing. He is getting the drains right and stopping the leaks in the roof and so on: you knew that those jobs needed doing and so you are not surprised. But presently He starts knocking the house about in a way that hurts abominably and does not seem to make sense. What on earth is He up to? The explanation is that He is building quite a different house from the one you thought of β€” throwing out a new wing here, putting on an extra floor there, running up towers, making courtyards. You thought you were going to be made into a decent little cottage: but He is building a palace. He intends to come and live in it Himself.”

Beautiful, huh?

What Lewis describes here, I believe, is the process of sanctification.

The Greek word translated ‘sanctification’ means holiness. In one sense only God is holy. But God also calls human beings to be holy – because, as Lewis says, he intends to live in us and display his glory and beauty through us. Growing in holiness often means setting aside our own plans or unhealthy ways in favour of what God is lovingly doing in our lives. We are his masterpieces – his palaces. Let’s not settle for anything less than the magnificent lives he has for us, even if the building process hurts…

β€œBut He knows the way I take. When He has tried me, I shall come forth as gold.” (Job 23:10)

God’s plans for my life are much bigger than I can ever imagine.
I really like what you said at the end about holiness…..

    1. Amen Rolain! You are part of His perfect plan and design, and the part you play is irreplaceable. May we each be open to the building process He has for us!
Thanks again, and God bless you.
