Drink deeply of love

Sometimes – perhaps all times – we just need to drink deeply of the all-consuming love of God.

These words from Ephesians 3:16-19 often give me strength for the journey. They remind me how important it is to be ‘filled’ by God and all that he offers.

Paul speaks this over our lives:

“I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being…”

Lord, may I learn to draw from your wealth of spiritual power. May I accept that on my own I am limited – but with you anything is possible.

“…so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith…”

Jesus! My simple faith opens the doorway to my heart, allowing you to reside there. How wonderful.

“…And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ…”

Rooted and established. Yes, planted deeply in your everlasting love. My foundation. I need your power to understand how wide, long, high and deep it is. May this love continue to transform my thoughts, feelings and actions.

“…and to know this love that surpasses knowledge β€” that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God…”

Love that surpasses knowledge… In other words, we will never fully understand it. But we can ask to taste it – and be filled by it, like a cup overflowing.

  1. Wonderful reminder! I just read a post about worship being our relationship with God, and this goes along nicely with it, as it reminds me that I need this relationship to flourish.
