When people come to faith in Jesus they often say they feel a peace they’ve never felt before.

This verse in Isaiah talks about such peace, adding that “quietness and confidence” will also characterise the life of a Christian.

That doesn’t mean the Christian life is stress-free (ha!), but when we put our trust in Jesus we are putting our trust in someone who can guarantee our eternal future.

We can look forward to making our home with him beyond the grave, in a new heaven and new earth.

This hope brings such perspective to the here-and-now.

God gives a quietness and confidence that he is with us always, and that everything is going to work out in the end.

God gives us himself, in a world where ‘self’ is king.

And God gives a promising pathway forward, one baby step at a time.

Thank you God, for all you give us, especially the unmistakeable peace, quietness and confidence that we simply won’t find anywhere else.

“The fruit of that righteousness will be peace; its effect will be quietness and confidence forever.” – Isaiah 32:17 NIV
