I came across a prayer written by American radio host and author Susie Larson today, and it really spoke to my heart.

It went:

“May God himself restore to you something you lost and never thought you would get back again. May he bring a sudden breakthrough on a long-awaited heart cry. May He heal a soul wound you never thought you would get over. May He pour out an abundance of joy and hope that makes you celebrate before the answer comes. And may thriving, rich faith mark your life in every way. You have access to the Most High God. May you live accordingly.”

I can relate to the frustration of trying to move through a traumatic past event. I remember believing the pain and heartache would have its hold on me forever. But God was faithful to me, and He did bring breakthrough. He did heal the wound. He did pour an abundance of joy and hope over me that caused me to celebrate before the answer came. And He blessed me with more and more faith as a result of what I’d been through. May we all know, as Larson prays, that we have access to the Most High God in every challenging or heart-wrenching moment we inhabit. May we know light in the darkness, joy and hope in the midst of pain, and ultimately choose to believe that no matter what happens, God is profoundly good. And He always will be.

“And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19 NLT)

What a prayer….. It brings me hope cause I made a decision a bad one and in the back of mind I think I will not be able to salvage the situation. And in a way I realise I cannot salvage it by myself but with God’s help. In the back of my mind I have thought its beyond repair and I need to start looking somewhere else or start expecting something else…! But this prayer gives me hope. I like the part where it says:
    “May He pour out
an abundance of joy and hope
    that makes you celebrate before
    the answer comes. And may
    thriving, rich faith mark your
    life in every way.”

    That is my prayer now.
    Thanks Ali….

I’m so glad the prayer helped give you hope Rolain. I can relate to making bad decisions which feel impossible to move on from. Praying with you that you would hold onto the only hope for recovery and freedom – Jesus Christ. Know that He will keep giving you answers as to how to move forward. Keep hold of that tremendous faith of yours because “he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” (Phil 1:6)
      Thanks for dropping by.

Thanks for posting this prayer today. And God who is ever for us helps us through that which IS impossible without to endure, survive and move on from. Hoping the sun is as shiny in Australia as it is in the Hudson Valley today and knowing the the Son is shining everywhere for all of us! Enjoy the weekend, Ali.

      Hi Sheila!
Great to see you back, and thanks for dropping by.
Amen to that! Without Him our experiences can be crippling, but with Him great beauty emerges out of the ashes.
The Hudson Valley sounds lovely! Sydney, Australia is heading into winter but there’s still lots of sunshine 🙂 And Sonshine, for sure!
      Thank you 🙂

WOW, what a wonderful and powerful prayer!! I guess many of us have made a bad choice and reaped the consequences; and many of us have been victimized–how reassuring to know the God of mercy and restoration. God bless you BIG–love, sis Caddo

I loved the prayer too – and absolutely… so thankful that He “binds up the brokenhearted”. May you enjoy all that our generous Lord has for you today as you walk in His love, Caddo!

Thanks for sharing this wonderful, encouraging prayer. Sometimes it’s hard to think of not being in pain when we’re in the depths of it.

No worries Janna, thanks for visiting. That’s so true. Often we only see the light after we come through the darkness.

Thank you for sharing this – It is awesome and so true, encouraging and inspiring. I live with only three years of memory die to a traumatic event leaving me with retrograde amnesia – And though I don’t know if God will ever restore the memory loss, I know he is restoring my life day by day and step by step ~ Katherine

      Hi Katherine,
How encouraging to hear how God is working in your life. Praying with you that whatever the future outcome, each day would bring a greater closeness and intimacy with Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour. So thankful he knows the beginning and the end of our stories and will never leave us or let us down.
      Blessings,
      Ali
