Our stories have value

Today, over florentines and coffee, I heard how two of my church friends came to know Jesus.

I love hearing people’s faith stories. They remind me how God uses people – ordinary people like you and me – to share the truth of his grace.

They also remind me that people are complex, and often it takes years and years before ‘the penny drops’ and Jesus becomes real to an individual.

And they provide evidence of the miraculous power of God to work change in the lives of broken people like myself…

Sometimes it can be hard to ‘articulate’ our faith and the evidence for it, but there is so much value in sharing our life experiences. Each journey is unique; each response to God like no other. And each salvation account reveals the awesome glory of the one who welcomes us – the lost, weary and repentant – into his family with open arms.

“So everyone who acknowledges me before men, I also will acknowledge before my Father who is in heaven…” (Matt 10:32)

“And this is the testimony, that God gave us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.” (1 John 5:11)

    I love that Ali. When I was lost God called me in a unique way. I praise Him for not leaving me on the wayside……Thanks for sharing Ali.

      That’s awesome. Would love to hear how you were saved one day. Each of our stories is so amazing! I’m so glad too, that he didn’t leave you where you were, but called you into his glorious kingdom for a much greater purpose 🙂

    Oh I love the bit about the “penny dropping”–yes, it took decades before Jesus became real to me. I’m so thankful now, to know–I had no idea all that I was missing, before. God bless you!

        The “penny dropping” is a great metaphor, because the head-knowledge about Jesus has to drop down into the heart. I do envy (maybe just a small sin) folks who get it right away–lots of children do, and some very blessed adults.

      I love that imagery Denise – and so true… We’re just called to faithfully keep telling our stories and sharing the gospel hey, and let God do what only he can do in people’s lives 🙂

    Amazing stuff. Reminds me of a sermon that has not left my heart and to summarize it all it was simply “Saved to save”. Our testimonies are there to be used and shared. Its amazing what God does in our lives.
