Life changes, but he stays the same

Some people crave variety. Adventure. Spontaneity.

Me? I’m more of a routine type.

Predictable days make me happy, and five-year plans are my fave.

This year however, God upended my life with a new suburb, a new church, and this month, a new job.

And now I think I’m ready for a cup of Rooibos tea and a good lie-down.

The changes have been exciting, yet scary and overwhelming at times.

But I’m so glad God has taken me out of my comfort zone.

One of the best things has been having the chance to reflect on the fact that while life may change, Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever (Hebrews 13:8).

He is my constant.

My unchangeable friend, brother, Saviour and Lord.

Jesus remains the same, no matter what life brings.

And I can trust him with everything.

What changes has this year brought your way, and how has God revealed himself to you through it all?

Take time now to thank him for his faithfulness in the midst of life’s ups and downs in 2018.

  1. Thank you so much for encouraging us with Jesus, our constant in the midst of changing times! I have become a grandma and after the start of the year, my dear daughter had to return to work. We discovered that the day care had many days they were closed and so I would come and do my best to cover these days with love and care. Our youngest daughter struggled some, off and on, always coming with me but not always able to cope well. :/. But as the year wore on, she got better and better at our precious times of taking care of little Lily. So thankful for how He keeps making a way for us, through all the ups and downs!

    1. How amazing to hear about all that God has brought you through as a family, step by step. Wow, that’s progress. Great she can now be a real blessing in supporting you in looking after Lily. And congratulations on becoming a grandma!

This blogger has a lot of the same life changes this year as we did. Working to retirement(maybe) North to South- Latino to mostly Anglo neighborhood.. Still in the middle of different is that unchanging peace of Jesus. Whatever Jesus has next I also need to sit down with some good hot coffee instead of tea and soak it in. Anyone else want to chime in on their thoughts on change.

  3. This is marvelous–I, too, prefer things predictable…don’t like change much, unless I’m in control of them 🙂 I am grateful God is faithful, that HE never leaves my side. God bless you ❤
