My dad passed away this week at 79 years of age, after years battling dementia.
Here’s one of his sermons, which was preached at Drummoyne Baptist Church on August 10, 2014.
It reflects his beliefs about life, death and eternity.
Enjoy hearing the words of my father, a man whose life impacted many for God’s glory.

Loved you Dad very much, loved his ministry! The older I get the more thankful I am for those like your Dad who guided my spiritual life! I praise God for his life and send my love to you and your family at this time.

I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your dad. I’ll be praying for you and your family as you go through the days ahead. I listened to his sermon that you posted on YouTube and it takes me back to how sermons used to be preached years ago (and probably still are in some places). Jeremiah is one of my favorite OT prophets. Our world has become far more callous in the things of God (maybe it has always been that way), and it’s a sign of the times we live in today. Your dad sounds like he was light shining brightly. God Bless you and your family.

Dear Sweet Lord! Ali, I was just thinking about you yesterday and my mind was wondering if you’re very busy, or I was bit worried about you and the family there in Australia being under recent increased pressure from so much mandating hardship by the government there as I saw in the news! Now I find my worry wasn’t completely misplaced and it’s sadder than I wanted to find out, as to how things are going.
I’m of course certain your beloved Dad is in heaven now and so at peace! I also know from having watched some relatives pass away with the same affliction that it’s very hard on family members to carry on day in and day out watching their loved one seemingly fading away from this world in the literal physical sense of that human being’s body, that you have known as a dear family member and been close to for so many years. But is not fully here and the soul within is still exactly who you always knew but is going to depart from that body just like anyone else does when their time comes, only here it’s a process of the physical mind letting go of this world first, but, at some point the soul must leave when God so chooses and then it happens they have finally moved on to God.
I listened and enjoyed his beautiful sermon; he drew me in to listen to all of that, and I was aware he said it was like a “dying man preaching to dying men” which made me realize that “his life was a living testimony for God” even in his fading away God was speaking to us through your Dad; by his example and courage with all heart!
I pray that you and all of your loved ones are being the fine people all of you are with faith, love and compassion for one another which allows you all to mourn your loss and be at peace with it knowing full well that it’s all going according to our Heavenly Father’s will and you are to carry on just like you always did making your Dad so proud of all of you while of course God being so proud of the entire Leader family all faithful to Jesus Christ!

I did become quite teary eyed listening to your Dad and the Harvest Time was so compelling and farmers having a happy time, My Grand Dad had a small farm like home, with animals like Pastor Leader mentioned!
He talks the way my Dad always did when I was a youngster on through to adult, saying we are here to work, “we are made to work,” exactly how my Dad taught us in my family in much the same way he always spoke to us about these same things being devoutly faithful to Jesus Christ.
On the 23rd I had something pop up as I was editing some writing and looking to reload a musical tune I had used recently in one of my essays, “Glory Glory Hallelujah” when I saw this rendition by some very talented young people in Scotland performing “Amazing Grace,” when suddenly I was completely inspired I know by God’s Holy Spirit, just as in other instances, to act upon it; so I put this simple but I love it posting together! Two actual performances, because as I was listening to the first one I found playing it over few times and then copying the link to put into my blog. But right then I saw another rendition with a more concert hall type venue which I loved too, because a wonderful singer performs with the bag pipes and orchestra that I love as well. I’ve heard the Pipes in person only once, after 911 on the first anniversary memorial of the fallen, by a Police Department in my area, and having known an officer who is of Scottish decent who plays the pipes, he told me about it and asked me to come over to listen that day. They make me cry often, I mean just in a movie or some TV spot of music; in person I’m sure more!
So I send this music to you and your family and of course in honor of your Dad who I know must really appreciate this sort of thing too!

Yes, dementia is a hard battle for all to see.
That’s great you could see parallels in the way your Father spoke and shared stories.

Hi again Ali, heading off to sleep here in a while but had to check your site and glad to see you got my long winded message. Oh my God what a great tribute and you sue did share who your Dad was and still is in perfect eternal life with our heavenly Father and family. He was such a cool and effective Pastor and I loved listening to him because yes he parallel’s my Dad’s insights and manner, but also your Dad spoke so from the heart and inspired with his love of Christ Jesus all from the heart, I could see that watching and listening, which I want to do again tomorrow; I really like your Dad such a nice and good man with a beautiful soul!
I have confidence that you are growing in all the ways our Lord wants you to through having to make this huge adjustment now but your family is beautiful too! So I just know you are going to be moving forward together appreciating all God still has in store for each of you and with an expanding growing love all of the time!
